Writing Tutor
Hi! My name is Jawharah and I'm an undergraduate student studying biology. I'm excited to meet you all and be a part of your writing journey! English has been one of my favorite subjects which essentially led me to tutoring. This experience allowed me to develop various writing skills and techniques and I'm eager to share what I've learned with you all. Writing is more than essays. it's a way to share our unique voices and communicate ideas. As a writing tutor, I hope to create a welcoming and supportive environment where students feel confident in achieving their writing goals. I look forward to working with you all and seeing you grow as writers!

Hi! My name is Chiara Giacomelli (she/her), and I am a Sophomore in the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) here at Rutgers. I am also part of the Honors College, and I am currently pursuing a double major in Theater Arts and English. On campus, I am a general board member of two of the Rutgers student theater companies, the Livingston Theatre Company and Cabaret Theatre, as well as being part of the women's rugby team. Additionally, I also work as a Scarlet Ambassador and serve as an Honors Community Mentor at the University Center. I am excited to join the Rutgers Learning Centers as a Writing Tutor and provide help to any of my peers who might need it. My goal is to support all students who would like to strengthen their writing skills while maintaining a friendly and stress-free environment.

My name is Olivia Drazek, and I am in my last semester at Rutgers University majoring in Political Science with a minor in Labor Studies with a concentration in Law & the Workplace. For the past two years, I have been a writing tutor through the Writing Center, where I have worked with students across disciplines to strengthen their writing and communication skills. In addition to tutoring, I am the Vice President of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity and a Senior Peer Instructor for the Aresty Research Center. I have also gained valuable experience in politics and law through my involvement with Senator Andy Kim’s campaign, Congressman Frank Pallone’s office, my district’s Assemblymembers’ campaign, a lobbying firm, and as a paralegal at a real estate agency.
When I first started at Rutgers, I struggled with time management, adjusting to the workload, and building confidence in my writing. Through practice and the right strategies, I was able to build the skills I needed to succeed. Because of these experiences, I understand the challenges students face and how overwhelming academics can sometimes feel. As a tutor in the Learning Centers, my goal is to create a supportive and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas, improving their skills, and finding the strategies that work best for them. I look forward to working with you and supporting you in your academic journey! -

Writing Tutor
Welcome to the Learning Centers! My name is Nazli, and I am a senior at Rutgers, where I am pursuing a major in journalism, minors in business administration and gender & media, and a certificate in women’s leadership. As an aspiring journalist, I have written for publications like The Daily Targum, Spoon University and RUminations. I have also interned with the Geena Davis Institute and The Light Leaks, which advocate for inclusive media representation and offer a community for underrepresented filmmakers, respectively. My most recent endeavor has been interviewing women-owned bookstores across the state and creating a short documentary on the importance of inclusive literature as a social action project through the Institute for Women’s Leadership. Ultimately, my college experience has been largely defined by my passion for storytelling. By employing particular strategies such as creating an outline and including in-depth analysis, my hope is to work together with you, so your stories can be told and your writing voice shines through.

Writing Tutor
My name is Meher Narang, and I am a senior majoring in Cognitive Science with a minor in Biological Sciences on the pre-med track. I have been a Writing Tutor since Fall 2024, serve as a Learning Assistant for Physics for the Sciences, and am also an RU-FYT Instructor. I first took Expository Writing during my freshman year, and, like many new students, I was initially unsure about the expectations and structure of college-level writing. At that time, I signed up for a session with a Writing Tutor who guided me through the process and helped me build confidence in my writing. That experience had a lasting impact on me, and I realized that I was not alone in facing these challenges. Motivated to help other students navigate this same transition, I became a Writing Tutor myself. Since then, I’ve worked both one-on-one and as an embedded tutor for college writing classes, with the primary goal of helping students understand how to approach their writing assignments effectively, develop their ideas clearly, and gain confidence in their own voices. Through these
roles, I’ve seen firsthand how guidance and encouragement can empower students, and I hope to continue supporting more writers in their academic journeys. -
