Writing Tutoring

Hone your writing skills at the Learning Centers.

Here to Help

The Learning Centers offer no-cost writing tutoring to help improve your skills and your coursework. Both undergraduate and graduate students can access tutoring in a variety of ways: in-person by appointment and drop-in, online by appointment via Zoom, and through asynchronous feedback online.

What to Expect

At your scheduled appointment or drop-in, bring a draft of your paper for a course, a personal statement for graduate or professional school, or simply your ideas. Our tutors provide feedback and suggestions about your writing in the following areas:

  • Brainstorming topics
  • Developing an argument
  • Formulating a thesis
  • Organizing ideas
  • Planning your writing process
  • Structuring paragraphs
  • And more

Learning Centers tutors do not provide proofreading or copy editing services.

Rutgers Writing Program

Learning Centers writing tutors cannot provide support for Rutgers Writing Program courses (01:355:XXX, 01:356:XXX). Visit the Rutgers Writing Centers to find tutoring for these courses.
