Mackenzie Barry (she/her) is an Academic Coach/Learning Specialist in the Learning Centers at Rutgers University. She earned her Master of Education in higher education, Bachelor of Arts in psychology, and minor in business from Providence College. While at Providence College, she competed on the Division I cross country and track competition teams. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and management with a concentration in mind, brain, learning, and innovation at Drexel University as well as a certificate in college teaching.

She is passionate about equipping students with the skills they need to help them reach their full potential and succeed during their time at college and in their future careers. She advocates for every student, especially first-generation students, probation students, students with learning differences, and student-athlete populations. She believes in the transformational power of education and is committed to increasing access to opportunities that help her students succeed and have an impact on their fields. She believes every student is capable of excellence and advocates for them to get them there!

Prior to Rutgers, she directed an academic coaching program at UNC Charlotte, led academic success workshops and presentations across campus, and taught two courses focused on supporting students on academic probation. She also earned inaugural Levels 1-3 College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certifications for the academic coaching program. She also worked in a learning center at Bryant University, as a graduate student, where she mentored students on academic probation and was a co-advisor/co-founder of the first chapter of Alpha Alpha Alpha (First-Generation Honor Society) in Rhode Island.

She is excited to join the Learning Centers team at Rutgers-New Brunswick to continue supporting students to reach their goals.
